Comments:max height of jets from main vent 100-120 feet. Eruption was very similar to yesterdays. Southeast vent played to a maximum height of about 30 feet drained after 3½ minutes and resumed shooting fountains of water at 4½ minutes into the eruption. After ½ hour of play the main vent was still playing to 40-50 feet. The rock in the southeast vent is still being knocked around with great force. The main water phase as determined by the middle vent lasted 26 minutes. At 55 minutes the main vent started to have its water jets become intermittent but was compensated by increased fountain activity from the southeast vent which at times filled the basin half way. In the first hour of play a very conservative estimate of the total discharge is 24000 gallons based on measurement of the main vent and the runoff channel at a point below it. The regular water phase lasted approximately 30-35 minutes while the steam phase continued to near 11:00 or an additional 80 minutes. Today’s eruption of Ledge geyser thus lasted a total of approximately 2hours 20 minutes. By 11:10 AM Ledge was already starting to have steam surges in possible preparation for its next eruption.
