Note:08/23/1978 Cistern 1200 (~ 8-10 splashes 20’) At 2320 Cistern spring had only dropped 16 inches. A good amount of runoff was coming from Steamboat’s channels – all from rain mist falling out of the steam cloud in 35ºF air.

From Martinez (1978) report: "At 12:24pm the bubbling increased slightly in intensity. At 4:10pm Cistern was 12 inches below overflow and quiet, with a temperature of 91.5 °C (197 °F). Some very slight bubbling was observed over the vent and from a few other spots in the pool."
