Note:04/09/1973 Echinus: Two consecutive durations and one interval was obtained this evening. Its behavior was as follows: 5:27 dome shaped rock covered (pool filled) 5:34 bubbling over vent began, lasting 3 min, pool recycled 5:40 bubbling over vent began, lasting 6 ½ min, until eruption 5:47 eruption began, duration 3min15s. Estimated maximum height was 60 feet. 5:50 pool required 4 minutes to drain 6:37 pool filled 6:46 bubbling, 3 min, pool recycled 6:52, bubbling, 3 min, until eruption 6:55 Eruption began, duration 3m6s. Estimated maximum height was between 70-89 feet, with many other tall bursts also 6:58 pool required 4 minutes to drain. The one timed interval between eruptions was 68 minutes ; then there was one recycle before both eruptions, starting 6 minutes before the activity which led up to the time of play.
