Comments:When I walked up at 11:08 Ledge still wasn't in overflow and the surface of the water was completely calm. Water was cloudy and a teal blue. There was a sudden flooding of the platform that sent water rushing downhill and the eruption began maybe 15-20 seconds later. Complete surprise. I had expected a period of overflow prior to the sudden rise in water level and eruption. Because I hadn't witnessed an eruption quite like this before, I stayed in hopes of getting a second eruption and a closed interval. A few minutes after the eruption (sorry, didn't get a time as I was talking with visitors), there was a brief episode of boiling that came more from the center of the pool rather than where the eruption happens closer to the edge. This location is where the lazy bubbles rise from. This lasted for a couple of minutes at most. From that point on there were just occasional slow, lazy bubbles rising and periods where the water surface wobbled in the crater. 1156 - Very close to overflow 1211 - Overflowing to start filling the first small depression in the overflow channel. 1216 - First small depression full of water allowing water to begin running down the hill. 1230 - Needed to get moving for a variety of reasons, so left the area as this was more like the behavior seen when I've watched it during an active phase before.
