| Comments: | Update upon reviewing photos, I would guess that the eruption occurred sometime overnight. My previous note says, "Muddy with 5 dead cormorants being hauled off by a female coyote. Based on one bird carcass already having been fed on by ravens, maybe an eruption sometime this morning? Local visitors saw the ravens at about 0930-1000. Also - Black Diamond and Black Opal now join together with a channel of water." Photos showed that on the 15th, the water level was just below overflow, but on the 17th, there was light overflow. In addition, there was light debris on the boardwalk and visitors who arrived earlier than I did said that only one bird had been eaten in place (stuck in the mud?) and the coyote had already taken a bird or two. |
