Comments:no runoff into Jetsam Pool from the southeast vent. The eruption occurred just before sunset and was made extremely beautiful by a complete 360º rainbow halo which encircled one’s shadow. Four vents: the main -NW- the middle and the two fumarole vents all played at least to 6:30 PM when the middle vent which shoots a vertical column of water started to become intermittent. Thus the main water phase can be considered as lasting 18 minutes. By 6:42 the middle vent had switched over to a vigorous steam phase and the 2 fumarole vents were starting to have mostly steam under pressure be emitted. As during several previous eruptions a very loud “clacking” and popping could be heard from the southeast vent. This continued off and on through the eruption for more than half an hour. The water in the runoff channel was opalescent blue in color and was of great volume. By 7:20 the regular water phase of the eruption had ended as the water jet from the main vent was becoming intermittent. At the same time there was observed a pulsating or chugging of steam and water from the middle and southeastern vents in unison. The water splashing from the SE vent during these pulsations was going up more than 8 feet. The steam phase of Ledge which followed lasted several hours.
