Wasn't sure this was worth reporting, but at about this time, we walked up on Aurum and it was as though someone had turned off the water. Some weak splashing, but the small, vigorous sputs that play continuously when Aurum is in pre-pay were absolutely dry. I didn't know if this was normal since its renewed activity, ,when all bets are often typically off at times like these. Hope someone can do something with this!
Edit: I see that after I posted, someone had recorded a time right before we arrived. |

Aurum splashing ranged from out of sight to just above the cone rim. The splash pool had water that covered the geyser eggs and was mostly clear. The side vents were pooling water with the exception of the one at the 4 o'clock position. 1 and 3 o'clock vents were actively pushing water and 5 o'clock was mostly holding a pool with occasional overflow. The 4 o'clock vent was in shadow yet appeared dry. |

No excessive melted areas in the snow. BW still covered in snow too. Aurum looks about the same as it has most of the summer; mostly quiet, gentile splashing sometimes outside of the crater, and #3 bubbler oozing out water and bubbling gently. Not going to rule out the possibility of an eruption, but unfortunately the supporting evidence is a bit weak. See what the logger says. |

Both Aurum entries here only show steam on the static webcam. The weather this morning was highly conducive to steamy conditions. From my observations both entries are questionable. IMHO both should stay up as "wc ie ?" with a comment about it being on the static cam to at least leave a record that Aurum could have short intervals, or could totally fake you out. |
