23705 10 Sep 2022 @ 1159 --- BobInSLC marathon recovery
21694 03 Jun 2022 @ 1818 --- Mkeller Between 1445 and 1800 platform was very weak similar to post marathon. Bijou started waking up around 1700. There was one pause at 1728 where water was barely visible in the front vent of Mastiff from the railing. Bijou came on strong about 45 seconds later. Very weak splashing in Giant otherwise.
20938 02 Apr 2022 @ 1110 --- Mkeller In 50 minutes there was no Bijou pause but it would slow down every 6-15 minutes. So so surges in Giant, never put any water out. Back Mastiff splashed a few times to a couple of feet.

19053 22 Aug 2021 @ 1100 --- Mkeller Spent about 80 minutes at Giant. Bijou would slow down every 6-15 minutes but never paused. Frequent 2-8 foot eruptions from Catfish. Occasional boiling seen in back Mastiff. Giant had 2 surges that put water out the front of the cone. No hot periods taking place.
16505 07 Nov 2020 @ 0915 --- Mkeller Grotto in marathon. Bijou dead, platform dry.
16106 13 Sep 2020 @ 1140 13 Sep 2020 @ 1240 SteveO 1140 Bijou slow down 1152 Bijou slow down 1204 Bijou slow down 1217 Bijou slow down 1224 Bijou slow down 1232 Bijou slow down Infrequent low left to right splashing in Giant's cone. Bijou was weak, most splashes 2 feet or less. Platform mostly dry, wet in the usual spots.
15671 21 Aug 2020 @ 1859 --- Mkeller Between 1745-1900 frequent surges up to the bite, no sloshing out the front. One very weak Bijou pause at 1852 that lasted about 25 seconds. Weak jets to a few feet from Catfish. No surges over the rim seen from back Mastiff.

14198 18 May 2020 @ 1737 18 May 2020 @ 1801 Janet Jones I went down to check on F&M and stopped off at Giant because there was water on the platform. Took a quick photo - noticed that Bijou was off and headed to F&M where there was a tiny bit of water standing, but not enough to say it erupted. Back to Giant by 1755. Still no splashing visible in Giant. Checked the GIP and couldn't see any water from the boardwalk. 1758 saw one small spike from Catfish, and a bit later just one visible angled splash in Giant. The odd thing is that the standing water by the viewing platform had microbes growing in it. I have videos on my Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/yellowstonenaturalist and photos and videos on FB on the geyser discussion group. OH - and Marathon Pool was lower and near boiling - sort of at that point between heavy bubbles rising and boiling.
14145 28 Feb 2020 @ 1627 --- Mkeller Between 1400 and 1515 one Bijou pause that lasted about 80 seconds. Frequent sloshing up to the bite in Giant but nothing out of the cone. Back Mastiff had a few splashes and Catfish was frequently erupting to a few feet. No evidence of hot periods.
14081 21 Jan 2020 @ 1050 --- Graham Snow bank across the front of the whole Giant platform. No eruption or hot period recently.
12421 29 Jun 2019 @ 1512 --- Polly I could hear SW Vents clunking (bubbling below the surface) from the boardwalk while I was watching Grand. (I heard this same clunking sound often in 2017.)
11535 03 Jun 2019 @ 0558 --- Kyle platform dry around HP vents. no sign of a hot period. Bijou continues to not pause
11482 01 Jun 2019 @ 2040 --- Mkeller No Bijou pauses from 1940-2035. Back Mastiff had 4 or 5 episodes with surging over the rim. Giant surges into the bite with occasional sloshing out the front. Reversed jetting from Giant at 1955 lasted about 2 minutes
11263 18 May 2019 @ 1045 --- Mkeller Between 0920 and 1045 Bijou was perpetual but would weaken every 13-22 minutes and almost pause. Mastiff occasionally seen splashing. Giant frequent surges 1/4 to 1/2 way up the cone.
11260 17 May 2019 @ 2030 --- Mkeller Bijou fully recovered and perpetual. No pause seen between 1920-2015. Front and back Mastiff frequently splashing over their rim. Giant had frequent surges from 1/3 to 3/4 up the cone with occasional sloshing out the front.
11256 17 May 2019 @ 1510 --- Mkeller Bijou very weak, a few spits every few seconds. Weak bursts from front Mastiff. Giant having occasional surges about 1/3 of the way up the cone.
11175 05 May 2019 @ 0730 05 May 2019 @ 1020 RLJones I did not observe a pause in Bijou during this entire time. I did leave for 30m to watch Riverside. I checked the GIP numerous times and the water level was constant at a very low level. L to R splashes in Giant occured fairly frequently rising about 1/4 up the cone. 2-3FT bursts occur occasionally from the back of Massif
11152 03 May 2019 @ 1320 --- Mkeller Observations from 1320-1400. Bijou perpetual, Mastiff front vent steady depth charging. Nothing seen in back Mastiff. Giant frequent surging every couple of minutes out the front with 7-8 surges over the back of the cone. No evidence of recent hot periods.
11031 20 Apr 2019 @ 1130 --- RMichaels Watched Giant for 40 min. Bijou on strong the whole time, not even a slowdown. Vigorous activity from Mastiff's rear vent. Some occasional vertical splashing in Giant's cone. This is exactly how it's looked every time I've passed by the last two days. No sign of a recent hot period.
10970 04 Apr 2019 @ 1130 --- Bijoumonkey Giant sign repositioned by NPS. No evidence of an eruption since 3/16/19.
10950 22 Feb 2019 @ 1148 --- novakg Snow on platform. signs not rolled.
10941 07 Feb 2019 @ 1217 --- ddshepard Upon further observation there is thin layer of snow on the crust the equivalent depth of the amount of snow that fell last night. Snow started around 7 PM so I believe eruption actually occurred on the early evening of 2/6. We left Giant at about 4:30 PM on 2/6 and there had been no eruption.
10940 06 Feb 2019 @ 1630 07 Feb 2019 @ 1110 ddshepard Giant erupted sometime after 4:30 PM on 2/6. Heavy crust on snow near Path SE of walkway; Giant sign out of place
10936 03 Feb 2019 @ 0950 --- DaveM Giant was either post eruptive or in a pause. Nothing from Bijou, steaming from Giant but snow on the platform. Snow could have been from this morning. Conditions not conducive to extended observation.
10927 27 Jan 2019 @ 0850 --- Graham Bijou slowed dowm, Mastiff quiet. SW vents barely steaming. Slowing down due to long Grotto
10872 20 Jan 2019 @ 0930 --- novakg Giant platform is dead. Bijou is not erupting right now. Maybe a Grotto marathon? I don’t know.
10772 15 Dec 2018 @ 1057 --- Bijoumonkey Yesterday’s eruption confirmed. Signs are rolled, Bijou just starting to spit again as of 1100.
10762 07 Dec 2018 @ 1347 --- Betty Steam drift from the left side at 1347 when OF area was in view. At 1350 cam turned left and the big steam plume was visible. If it was not Giant I will delete this note
10758 01 Dec 2018 @ 1233 --- JSJ GOSA playback shows a big, wind-blown steam plume in the right place, appearing to last between 1 and 1.5 hours.
10717 04 Nov 2018 @ 0830 --- steve No overnight eruption

10703 02 Nov 2018 @ 1128 --- steve For the last 10 minutes Bijou has been off with no water in Mastiff and even the sw vents are quiet with no steam. Grotto is on, maybe a Grotto marathon.
10672 28 Oct 2018 @ 1633 --- steve The danger sign and the giant sign were rolled, one to just above India and the other to the right side of the cage.
10671 28 Oct 2018 @ 1129 --- steve Geology will be in the ugb to replace the signs on Wednesday
10561 05 Oct 2018 @ 0930 --- Tara No eruption overnight.
9978 01 Sep 2018 @ 1708 --- Graham Water seen over the ridge on the webcam at 1708. Big puff of steam earlier at 1707 could have been Mastiff.
9901 28 Aug 2018 @ 0545 --- SteveO No Giant yet.
9607 10 Aug 2018 @ 1904 10 Aug 2018 @ 1905 JSJ Seven minutes after end of hot period, Giant had sustained, wide, subvertical (very slightly angled to the left) surging above the cone for ~0.25 to 0.5 minutes.
9558 08 Aug 2018 @ 2114 --- Brian Unattended at 2115
8827 20 Jun 2018 @ 2349 --- Tom C. Tara's write up of the GHP is excellent and contains more info than I could have recalled. I'd just add that Catfish and B-C vent (which I've called "Crawdad" for years, without any support) were also active to varying degrees throughout the GHP, but never notable enough for me to include in my calls. But that's not the point of this note. I'd just like to say that the Grotto which preceded the GHP was still ie. right through the Giant start. It was 7 min. shy of 2 hrs. in duration at that point. It had 'tried' and failed to have a Rocket major for ~ 20 min. from about the 1 hr. to 80 min. mark. The previous Giant (6/9/18) was preceded by about a 2 hr. Grotto that also 'tried' and failed to have a Rocket major from about the 1 hr. mark until it just gave up and quit without a Rocket. So, 2 data points. Use them recklessly. Also, Grotto started again within 10 min. of Giant ending.
8878 19 Jun 2018 @ 1223 --- Polly Surge from A & B vents almost out of the cone. (Also vertical surges at 1236 - A & B 1' , 1238 - B vent 2' , 1248 B vent.)
8733 16 Jun 2018 @ 1820 --- Polly Unattended
8871 16 Jun 2018 @ 1224 16 Jun 2018 @ 1800 Polly Periodic vertical surges in Giant (1-3 feet, but mostly 1 foot).
8700 15 Jun 2018 @ 1854 --- Mkeller Two minute cycle of reverse jetting over 1/2 way up Giant's cone
8970 14 Jun 2018 @ 1342 14 Jun 2018 @ 1400 Polly Periodic vertical surging in Giant 1-2' high.
8580 08 Jun 2018 @ 2130 --- WillBoekel unattended
8513 06 Jun 2018 @ 1749 --- WillBoekel unattended
8172 13 May 2018 @ 0550 --- SteveO No Giant yet, I've gone to Norris.
8165 12 May 2018 @ 1215 12 May 2018 @ 1227 Polly Numerous good-sized splashes both vertical and right to left in Giant’s cone.
8257 11 May 2018 @ 0820 11 May 2018 @ 1800 Polly Energy has shifted overnight. Bijou is behaving normally with pauses. (No steam phase in Bijou observed.). Giant has more normal-looking surges. Mastiff is much calmer today, with occasional splashes, depth charging, and occasional bathtubs. Observations were at various time spans during the day.
7966 06 Apr 2018 @ 1330 --- Bijoumonkey Giant sign and "Stay On Walk" sign have rolled off the platform.
7940 07 Feb 2018 @ 0850 --- Dave from B Giant and Mastiff signs have moved/rolled. Possible eruption between Sat, Feb 3 1312 (Graham's last post) and 1600 Tuesday, Feb 6 (NPS OFVEC )
7897 30 Jan 2018 @ 0730 --- Graham Back to normal now, no depth charging.
7892 29 Jan 2018 @ 1456 --- Graham Some vertical splashes. Over several hours there were occasional vertical splashes the width of the cone, not reaching the bite. A few vertical spikes on the left side reached the bite.
7890 29 Jan 2018 @ 1350 --- Graham Giant doing some left to right splashes out of the cone and Mastiff is depth charging. More water than I saw yesterday.
7700 10 Oct 2017 @ 1823 --- WillBoekel Mastiff sign has moved and the giant sign is not under the boardwalk but certainly moved (it is approximately 15 feet from the boardwalk) and facing the wrong direction. Hope this helps.
5459 27 Aug 2017 @ 1325 27 Aug 2017 @ 1425 minissa Noted voluminous steam not Bijou while awaiting Grotto. Sat in cage through several short (2 min) Bijou pauses. Noted depth charging in back Mastiff plus some frank splashing with decent volume although only 1-2 feet in height, also some vertical (B Vent?) splashing from Giant. However, the activity in Mastiff was not coordinated with Bijou pauses and I did not see water rise in front Mastiff with any pause. Back Mastiff was ejecting quite a bit of water and steam overall, though

2436 29 Sep 2015 @ 0820 29 Sep 2015 @ 1000 JimS Bijou strong with no pauses. Mastiff depth charging strongly to 1 or 2 feet at times. Catfish some sprinkling. Water in Giant with left to right splashing at times.
2433 28 Sep 2015 @ 1415 --- Tara Water visible in Giant. Everything else on the platform was gently steaming.
2430 28 Sep 2015 @ 0834 --- JimS Found that the Giant sign was rolled under the cage and lots of water on the boardwalk north of Giant platform. Danger sign also looks moved and grass in runoff channel flattened. Certainly looks like a Giant eruption.
