Congress pool down 4-6" from yesterday, still boiling vigorously. Emerald Springs and Monarch runoff appears to have increased. Monarch geyser crater has clearer water and much fuller. Corperal boiling, runoff wet. Cistern did not look any different, boiling steadily, just at overflow. Emerald Springs is still cloudy but with noticeably less boiling. https://geysertimes.org/note.php?id=9039
8848 22 Jun 2018 @ 1645 22 Jun 2018 @ 1735 MAB Two eruptions in this time frame - Starts are different – more convection and upwelling before it starts as it used to, or if that is the start it is very very different, so I don’t have good start times yet until I figure it out! Water level is low, but it does reach overflow during the eruption, about 10 feet out. Superb growling and grumbling from Dog Leg!

30154 28 Jun 1994 @ 1200 --- research-mab 6/28/1994 - no time noted - I spent a lot of rove time watching Corporal Geyser and Dog’s Leg. They have seemed to switch roles and now Corporal is erupting and Dog’s Leg is not. Corporal has low boils or eruptions lasting between 10-13 min with intervals between eruptions about 10-12 min. When Corporal starts bubbling Dog’s Leg drains and when Corporal stops, Dog’s Leg quickly fills. I took temp readings and Corporals fluxuates between a low of 69.6° to a high of 79.4°! Low occurred when two (of the seemingly three) vents were going and high occurred during time when all three vents were boiling, about two min. from end of eruption. Dogs’ Leg temp ranged from 71.5°C to about 73.4°C. Remember these are estimates I only watched it for a few separate accounts today! But I’m hooked so more soon

32418 14 Jul 1976 @ 1721 --- research-mab July 14 1976 - inferred time no time noted 2nd entry - Corporal Geyser - - has an eruptive cycle of approximately 20 minutes and 34 seconds. I began my observation of Corporal just as the pool filled and overflow began. The eruption ceased soon afterwards and I began timing. The pool drained approximately 4-5 inches. Once the pool has drained to the level of white sinter deposit the pool gradually begins to refill. Slow at first, then increasing in frequency and intensity bubbles begin to appear at the surface of the pool. As the feature approaches the end of its eruptive cycle - - bubbling becomes quite vigorous. Steam bubbles can be heard hitting cap rock in the vent before they surface. The largest eruptive display reaches a whopping 6-8”. Spectacular!!!
32417 14 Jul 1976 @ 1720 --- research-mab July 14 1976 - no time noted - Thump in Back Basin. At approximately 5:20 pm I was standing by Corporal Geyser - - Two visitors who had stopped to watch Corporal and the continued on towards Vixen. About 5:30 pm we continued our discussion of Basin activity after an eruption of Veteran (c. 5:28 pm) At that time he inquired as to whether or not there was a relationship between the thump he had heard “& felt and the activity at Veteran. Inquiring further we (three) agreed that we had felt and heard a large thump. - - The man and his wife being stationed at Vixen and I at Corporal. Approximate time we agreed on was 5:20.
5548 10 Jul 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 07/10/1976 Corporal Geyser - - feature appears to be more active than normal. The wash from the feature extended beyond normal runoff channel and was evident on the trail between Veteran and the “T” in the trail by bridge at Tantalus.
32338 17 May 1976 @ 1200 --- research-mab May 17 1976 - no times noted - saw the following geysers in action:African (continuous), Constant, Big whirligig, Valentine, Dark Cavern, Vixen, Corporal, (Fan?)
32696 29 Sep 1975 @ 1200 --- research-mab 09/29/1975 - no time noted - Corporal still overflowing periodically.
5700 27 Sep 1975 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/27/1975 Corporal: the usual overflow activity (periodic with draining level of pool down ~ 6”) which has not been apparent in the last two weeks, was noticed happening today. Timed sequence: 22 min interval between one drain period and another – 15 ½ min after it started to drain, it started to fill, overflow lasted ~ 1 min, draining : ~1 min, filling about 5 min.
5696 01 Sep 1975 @ 1150 --- research-mab 09/01/1975 Corporal filled at 1150- intense boiling. No reaction in either Veteran or Rubble.
5697 01 Sep 1975 @ 1032 --- research-mab 09/01/1975 Corporal was checked during eruption of Rubble. No significant change in Corporal.
32679 27 Aug 1975 @ 1200 --- research-mab 08/27/1975 - no time noted - Corporal geyser bubbling away but not erupting, generating no runoff.
32669 24 Aug 1975 @ 1200 --- research-mab 08/24/1975 - no times noted - Corporal has been bubbling strongly every time I’ve past it in the last 3 days. (Ditto SSL)
5611 05 Aug 1975 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/05/1975 Corporal behaving strangely. Was bubbling away when pool was quite low, evidence indicated no recent eruption.
32633 15 Jul 1975 @ 1200 --- research-mab Thurs July 15 1975- no time noted - Corporal geyser – water slowly clearing, “eruptions” continuing much as before quake.
32623 07 Jul 1975 @ 1200 --- research-mab 7/7/1975 - no time noted - Corporal – clearing, same activity as before quake
32803 08 Sep 1973 @ 1600 08 Sep 1973 @ 1605 research-mab 09/08/1973 - Corporal 180º filling and with heavy bubbling 4:00pm - Corporal 170º water level dropped no heavy bubbling 4:05pm
5998 12 May 1973 @ 1800 --- research-mab 05/12/1973 Each eruption of Veteran was followed by bubbling and runoff of Corporal. Dog’s Leg water level dropped a ft. as Corporal filled & overflowed – then filled up as overflow of Corporal ceased.
32932 28 Sep 1972 @ 1200 --- research-mab 09/28/1972 - no time noted - Watched another exciting eruption of Corporal. I’ll only add that while pool is draining, the “Dogleg” makes a gurgling sound.
6468 23 Sep 1972 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/23/1972 For several days I’ve noticed that Corporal Geyser was having greater than usual run-off at times, however every time I went by Corporal it would be 3”-4” below the edge. Today I witnessed the “eruption”. The pool started to fill and bubble until it rose to overflowing. The bubbling action was relatively gentle. Approx 20 gal of water ran down the run-off channel, the bubbling stopped, and the level dropped. A dull thumping was apparent during the bubbling activity. {no specific time}
32926 07 Sep 1972 @ 1200 --- research-mab 09/07/1972 - no time noted - ...many of the features in the Back Basin (ie Mud, Mystic, Yellow Funnel and Dishwater springs, corporal geyser & Dog Leg) are still low, turbulent and muddy.
6422 25 Aug 1972 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/25/1972 Corporal Geyser – the heat has shifted to here – apparently from “The Dog’s Leg.” There is bubbling in pool of Corporal, the water in it is turbid, & there is now no runoff from The Dog’s Leg. In addition, The Dog’s Leg has lost most of its Sulphur deposit.
33207 16 May 1972 @ 1201 --- research-mab Corporal Geyser 1972 – May 16 - no time - 153F “Dog Leg” 188F Bubbling action from the Dog Leg, no action in the main spring. Most of the water coming up from the Dog Leg is going back down in the main spring, very little over flow.
32887 16 May 1972 @ 1200 --- research-mab 05/16/1972 - no time noted - Corporal Geyser – Pool= 153º Spring 188 much sulfur coming out of spring and being deposited {dog leg}
32968 02 Oct 1971 @ 1200 --- research-mab 10/02/1971 - no time noted - Corporal Geyser – water down 2 ½ inches
32953 12 Sep 1971 @ 1500 --- research-mab 09/12/1971- {afternoon temps 2-4pm} - Corporal 147° receives more H2O from Dog’s Leg than it gives
32981 28 Aug 1969 @ 1100 --- research-mab August 28 1969 Thursday -{approx time} - Don White and I were in Back Basin taking thermal readings – 9 to noon. Green Dragon – 4 feet – 206.5 F Phillips Cauldron – 5 feet – 203.5 F Yellow Funnel – 8½ ft. - 202.0 F Pearl – 4 ft – 83 to 92 C Corporal – 4 ft – 91 C Cistern – 26 ft – 216.2 F Echinus – 10 ft. - 102.5 C
33213 17 Aug 1969 @ 1200 --- research-mab Aug 17 1969 - no time - 172° F No activity from the “dog leg” crater to the east last or this year
