11017 20 Apr 2019 @ 0945 20 Apr 2019 @ 0950 MAB Very forceful water sprays and roaring steam from the north shoulder vent, moreso than last year, and in series. Water seen 945, 947, 949, and brief at 950. The crack is enlarged more to the east.
10863 23 Jun 1990 @ 1800 --- research-mab 6/23/1990 Hurricane vent not showing water flow after steam for first time that I’ve noticed.
10860 16 Sep 1989 @ 1800 --- research-mab 9/16/1989 New fresh surface sulfur deposits at Crater Springs & Hurricane Vent.
10862 06 Aug 1988 @ 1800 --- research-mab 8/6/1988 Hurricane Vent In Porcelain Basin, Hurricane Vent has an upside down (for a geyser, that is) eruption. It’s eruption is preceded by increased steaming from the fumeroles to the north. After several minutes of increased steam, water overflows from a horizontal crack in the rock, which is about one foot long and about 1½ feet above the water level, on the north side. The water flows out for about 1-2 minutes.
10861 02 Jul 1988 @ 1800 --- research-mab 7/2/1988 Observations: Hurricane Vent has dropped about 6” in water level. It continues to have “water fall” eruptions out of the horizontal crack on the north west side of the rock wall.
10857 20 Sep 1979 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/20/1979 Hurricane Vent – The floating sign has been removed, Hmm? Anyone counted to see if all our maintenance staff is alive. Hurricane Vent appears unchanged at 169ºF. Waterfall not erupting at observation.
10856 23 Aug 1979 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/23/1979 Nice waterfall in Hurricane Vent today at 1200 pm
10855 09 Sep 1978 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/09/1978 Hurricane Vent – Grey, milky water – waterfall was active, dropping 1 foot to water level. Pool temp 156ºF
10853 31 Aug 1977 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/31/1977 Hurricane Vent’s level has declined 8-10”
10854 07 Jul 1977 @ 1800 --- research-mab 07/07/1977 Hurricane Vent’s water fall is back.
10850 17 Sep 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/17/1976 Hurricane Vent – the waterfall is pouring in much larger amounts of water. However, the level of the pool remains unchanged.
10851 04 Sep 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/04/1976 There is elemental sulphur being deposited around the steam vents above Hurricane Vent
10848 14 Jul 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 07/14/1976 At Hurricane Vent, the little fumarole is much quieter of late. Water fall continues.
10849 19 Jun 1976 @ 1800 --- research-mab 06/19/1976 Hurricane Vent – first waterfall I have seen in a hot spring. The cracks in the Northeast side of the vent have enlarged over the winter. Water appears to be constantly flowing from a crack in the vent, dropping two feet to the pool at the base of the vent.
10843 18 Aug 1975 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/18/1975 Hurricane Vent – pool at bottom of vent is beginning to bottom out.
10844 06 Aug 1975 @ 1800 --- research-mab 08/06/1975 Hurricane Vent is continuing to drop. The level of the pool in Hurricane Vent [h]as been dropping since the earthquake of June 30th, 1975
10845 05 Jul 1975 @ 1800 --- research-mab 07/05/1975 Hurricane Vent - - the pool in the vent is dropping or has dropped about 10”
10846 30 Jun 1975 @ 1733 --- research-mab 06/30/1975 5:33 Hurricane Vent has refilled to normal level
10847 30 Jun 1975 @ 1325 --- research-mab 06/30/1975 New fractures in north side of Hurricane Vent. Hurricane Vent is draining 1:25 pm. Down about 2 ft.
10842 07 Sep 1974 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/07/1974 Hurricane Vent – water level has dropped 3-4”
10852 01 Sep 1973 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/01/1976 Hurricane Vent – water level is being raised by increased output from the water fall issuing from the crack in the wall.
10841 12 Apr 1973 @ 1800 --- research-mab 04/12/1973 Hurricane Vent 180° – fumaroles near edge puffing vents along joint on NE side 200°
10858 15 May 1972 @ 1800 --- research-mab 05/15/1972 Hurricane Vent – blue gray water, no bubbling, sulfur crystals have vanished from steam vents {from last year} 169º
10859 25 Sep 1971 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/25/1971 Hurricane Vent has a line of 1 inch high bright yellow sulphur crystals being deposited from steam vents near the top NE edge of the Hurricane pit. In that the crystals are long, relatively separate from each other, and are in sharp contrast to the brownish purple soil below, I can honestly say that this is one of the most beautiful sights that I have seen in the basin all summer. (RH)
10839 16 Oct 1964 @ 1800 --- research-mab 10/16/1964 Hurricane is quiet, gray & full.
10838 09 Oct 1964 @ 1800 --- research-mab 10/09/1964 Hurricane is very high at 185º. Seems as though there is a tunnel-like connection between Hurricane & Colloidal. The wave action of Colloidal has corresponding splashes at the north edge of the Hurricane.
10837 05 Oct 1964 @ 1530 05 Oct 1964 @ 1630 research-mab 10/05/1964 Porcelain Basin observed from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm Hurricane has gained back its original level (pre-Sept 25) & maybe more. It is murky gray.
10836 04 Oct 1964 @ 1800 --- research-mab 10/04/1964 Hurricane Vent has gained a foot or so of water as has the small ex-mudpot just east of Colloidal Pool.
10835 03 Oct 1964 @ 1800 --- research-mab 10/03/1964 Hurricane Vent is completely dry.
10840 30 Sep 1964 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/30/1964 Big Colloidal & Hurricane Vent have gained but not to original level.
10834 27 Sep 1964 @ 1800 --- research-mab 09/27/1964 Hurricane Vent is almost dry and has dropped at least 2 feet. {generic time}

10832 25 Sep 1964 @ 0000 --- research-mab 09/25/1964 Hurricane Vent has lost some water. Fresh mud shows up all along the water edge.
