Note: | Norris monthly report August 1967 - Mud Spring - It has been a dirty gray spring all summer with a temperature of 170° and a pH of 2.1. The water started to drop slowly in August and on August 19 the spring threw mud 3 to 12 feet high. The action started early in the morning. I was at the geyser by 8:15 a.m. and fresh mud had been thrown 45 feet north of the spring and to a height of 8 feet on the trees. By late evening the spring was playing about every 9 minutes. The eruptions varied from 3 to 12 feet high. {E. Leigh} |
