Note: | 06/14/1972….watched the eruption until about 11:40 pm when the water phase ended in all of the vents except the main “thumb” vent which had remained virtually the same in its water output. At shortly -1 or 2 minutes- before midnight while the main vent continued to throw out considerable water the SE “little finger” vent returned to fountain eruptions again reaching 10-30 feet in the beginning, gradually diminishing to 8-15 feet at 12:20 when observations were ended. At that time the water phase of the eruption had continued a full hour and a good amount of water ~approx. 35% water & 65% steam was still coming out of the main vent in addition to the SE vent.
It would be advisable for all those who familiar w/Ledge to check it thoroughly tomorrow in order to confirm or deny what appeared to be new rock fragments near the SE “ring finger” vent. |
