Comments:Art & I were right about to head in. At 2100 we had a minor with long sustained vertical South solo. Not particularly large or insane runoff, but enough to where we decided to give it 5 more minutes. After a brief pause, NV began building up a nice looking minor when suddenly it had a large vertical surge and took off right away! Wind the default daytime direction so it was very visible lit up with our flashlights. Height measurement of 312' and it held it there for almost a minute, didn't seem to drop very far after. INSANELY loud and violent water phase despite the shorter height. Went into burst mode at 2117 and held that for the remainder. Fairly clear water still. SPECTACULAR conditions for a nighttime eruption with no moon and very clear starry night sky.

Approximately 2000-2100 typical minor behavior as seen all day. Decent minors but not much to make you think an eruption was coming. Started to pack up to head in as activity dramatically decreased around 2045-2100. Very little to no minors during this period. Approximately 2100 there was a concerted minor where south vent put out an unusual large amount of water for a long duration, but not particularly high. 2100-2105 minor activity resumed and SB erupted with almost no warning. Ben approximated height around 310-350’ from what I recall. Little to no wind during eruption. From Larissa and Clara’s observation from just south of Emerald, height seemed to be on the shorter side compared to other low/no wind eruptions.
