Comments:pool filled nearly to the top as before but within a few seconds the whole surface was covered with the boiling activity characteristic of superheated water. The pool then burst into a full-fledged fountain eruption somewhat intermediate in form to Africa and Echinus Geysers. After waiting so long to see it the sight although cloaked in much steam & falling snow was quite enjoyable-Maximum height” estimated 45-50 feet. In addition a considerable amount of coarse sand and gravel was ejected with the water. Occasional pieces of gravel ½ to 1 inch in diameter were hurled up more than 30 feet into the air and one rock rectangular in shape and 5 inches long was thrown out around 15 feet into the air. Runoff – considerable on the same order as is normally discharged by a big eruption of Bear Den
