34249 19 Apr 2024 @ 1243 --- MAB No sputtering in Tantalus Creek seen - later from Vixen I could see steam and went to investigate - nothing visible above water level but one area is a bit hotter than the water flowing in from Echinus area - maybe the little sputs will be back as things dry out
29309 31 Oct 2023 @ 1325 --- MAB still active - but not the larger bursts - vents very obvious due to steam
28798 14 Oct 2023 @ 1330 --- MAB IE low play but none of the taller fatter ones observed
28799 07 Oct 2023 @ 1232 --- MAB IE 0920 then saw one of the bigger fat ones - returned 1232 & while at Vixen til ~1755 heard splashing but never saw the robust ones you can see from Vixen sitting down
28375 20 Sep 2023 @ 1417 --- Micah Kipple Sputs in tantalous Creek upstream of vixen Bridge sill active
28015 04 Sep 2023 @ 1654 --- cb Spouters in Tantalus creek are still active. The farthest vent up steam is bursting to ~1' In ~3m cycles of quiet and active periods.
27601 14 Aug 2023 @ 1628 --- cb features in Tantalus creek above vixen bridge are still active
27166 23 Jul 2023 @ 1546 --- cb 2 features in Tantalus creek ~60' & 75' above the Vixen bridge are still active and continuously erupting 3"-6" in height.
26640 24 Jun 2023 @ 1032 --- cb Norris back basin. Features ~65' up Tantalus creek (toward Veteran) from the Vixen bridge are still active, bubbling 2"- 6" high.
26435 17 Jun 2023 @ 1830 --- MAB NGB: Sputs in Tantalus Creek still active - easier to spot as the evening cooled and steam increased
26238 11 Jun 2023 @ 1021 --- cb Norris back basin. features in Tantalus creek ~60' above (S) of the Vixen bridge are mostly the same as observed on 5/25/23 - today. Cycling from a weak boil to rounded 6"- 8" bursts and then repeat cycle.
27728 26 May 2002 @ 1200 --- research-mab {No specific time given} The little feature in the center of Tantalus creek as you cross the bridge by Vixen is sputtering pretty vigorously even though it seems to be nearly inundated by the warm creek water (location about 20 feet to the east of the bridge in the center of the creek). {GOSA Listserv MSC Box 4}
27727 14 Mar 2002 @ 1200 --- research-mab {generic time no specific time noted} We saw a new UNNG (at least to us it is new). It was erupting from a crack in the middle of Tantalus Creek about 60 feet upstream from the bridge at Vixen. The geyser was ie when we saw it. It lasted for at least 4 minutes and reached up to about 3 feet. The vent is a small crack about 3 feet long in the bed of the Creek. There is no evidence of old sinter around the vent and it looks to be new. We left the area about 10 minutes later and it had not erupted again. {GOSA listserv MSC21 Box 4 - also in GOSA SPUT 2002 Vol 16 No 2}
27725 10 Sep 2001 @ 1200 --- research-mab {No specific time given} Sept 7 and Sept 10 2001 On both days the small geyser in Tantalus Creek between Vixen and Veteran was active - Intervals appear to be about 20 minutes but I did not monitor it very closely. {GOSA listserve MSC21 Box 4 - also in Geyser Gazer SPUT Oct 2001 Vol 15 No 5}
27724 07 Sep 2001 @ 1200 --- research-mab {No specific time given} Sept 7 & Sept 10 2001 On both days the small geyser in Tantalus Creek between Vixen and Veteran was active - Intervals appear to be about 20 minutes but I did not monitor it very closely. {GOSA listserv MSC21 Box 4 - also in Geyser Gazer SPUT Oct 2001 Vol 15 No 5}
27723 20 Aug 1995 @ 1200 --- research-mab {No Date No Month - generic time after late July Disturbance} UNS in Tantalus Creek 100 feet upstream from Vixen bridge --These three little uns broke out just prior to the disturbance. There were three vents boiling to a max height of maybe eight inches. These features were out in the channel of Tantalus Creek. They disappeared about three weeks into the disturbance. This is an area that should be watched for further outbreaks.
27722 12 Aug 1995 @ 1200 --- research-mab {generic time} 8/12/1995 The sputters in Tantalus Creek aren’t visibly erupting (from the boardwalk).
27721 29 Jul 1995 @ 1200 --- research-mab {generic time} 7/29/1995 The “Sputtering Tantalus Trio” have constant eruptions 3-5” high.
30077 28 Jul 1995 @ 1200 --- research-mab 7/28/1995 - no time noted - The Sputtering Tantalus Trio still active
27720 24 Jul 1995 @ 1300 --- research-mab {generic time} 7/24/1995 The sputtering Tantalus duo referred to above is actually a trio - Using the automatic temp compensating pH meter, the following are the temps and pH:- The breakout is in a line east, south east. The eastern most vent is 86.6°C pH 4.46 - Middle vent 86.3°C pH 4.45 - Western most vent 93.0°C pH 4.59
27719 23 Jul 1995 @ 1200 --- research-mab {no specific time noted in log} On walk with Duncan Foley he took temp & ph of new feature in Tantalus Creek... Temp No 86°C - Temp So 92° - pH 6.8 I will take a picture on my walk this afternoon....Ursula discovered early this am
