|Note:||No eruption for 10 hours today, Sept 01. There is a large thermal soil "delta" in the pool similar to that seen in April-May (when Whirligig had been dormant Feb 06-May 23 2014), with water still draining into the geyser from upstream of Pinwheel. The recent heavy rains may have played a part in this slowdown, and obviously the creation of the delta. Convection and action from the vents looked better on my evening visit than they did in the morning. Norris logbook/staff did not see an eruption yesterday, or a drained crater. YVO is currently offline so I offer this information until we know more. |
Addendum- this link may or may not work- but here's a photo for the record
