Note: | 10/10/1982 RA Hutchinson - Many trees encased in ice - bowed over by the weight. One tree adjacent to stairs 10 cm diameter snapped off; another smaller one to the NW up-rooted & dropped across boardwalk. Rocks & small trees in low heat flow areas between Steamboat & the stairs are all blanked [blanketed] by as much as 11 or 12 cm of shiny wet ice. A portion of the runoff flowed into Cistern Spring & built up a multi-lobed delta on its NNE shallow margin & made the pool turbid gray-brown. Water level was down ~23cm at 1600 MDT |
