| Note: | Aug 8 1981 - no time noted - Porcelain Spring Terrace area is continuing to change. At the south east side is a slump area. This appeared a few days ago, along with a noisy steam vent first observed Aug 5. Now the whole southern part near the bank is underwater. Previously there were isolated pools. This area is extremely unstable. ....I attempted to get to the new steam vent to take its temperature- but turned back when the geyserite moved under our feet – a sinking feeling {Added here as possible precursor to Blowout-Incline area AND example of the good stuff found in logbooks not in GT. mab} |
