Note: | 8/22/1983 Blowout - The geyser constantly splashed from an empty pool until often before an eruption a noticeable build up of steam occurred. The normal splashing stopped soon after that and the pool began to fill rapidly from a long crack in the side of the crater, sort of like a waterfall. When the pool filled an eruption began from the crack with water being thrown violently out to the side and splashed out a few feet.
After the eruption normal, but higher, upright splashing started again from the full pool and lessened in height to normal as the pool drained. |
