Note:05/23/1973 At 8:55 Ebony observed to have water level too low to be seen. At 9:04 Ebony gurgled and splashing about 1 ft Filled to the top of its orifice, scaring away a varying hare occupying the same fallen tree as the “Easter Bunny” did when alive (this appeared to be somewhat larger). Ebony did not overflow, but at 9:05 Bear Den erupted for 1 ½ minutes, spewing 5 or 6 times up to about 40 feet. With no breeze the water fell on the right-hand downslope (westward) side of the hill, on several pines in the process of dying.
