Note:09/26/1964 Steamboat on the 6th day. A slight change in the eruptive pattern was noticeable after noon. The agitation continued strong in both vents all day from 8:46 to 9:16 am. There were 13 bursts from the south vent while the north vent was almost constantly splashing. It seems that the north vent is throwing about as much water as the south vent. From 10:53 to 11:23 am, there were 9 shots from the south vent while the north vent acted as before. From 1:08 to 1:38pm, the south vent played only 5 times and the north vent appeared more active. At 1:50 pm, the south vent had a strong play (20-30 ft) which produced the largest runoff seen in the past two days. Periodically – about every 20 or 30 minutes- through the afternoon, there would be a strong enough play to produce runoff in the main channel. The activity today appears to have increased since yesterday but there is still little runoff. The water level appears unchanged- if anything, it may have dropped slightly.
