Steamboat continued very hot all day. There was much boiling in both vents. A considerable amount of high play was noticed to come out of the south vent around 11:30. The South Vent appeared to be less active during the afternoon. After five several people began watching and it appeared very likely. At 20:30 there was a long play by both vents to a height of about 40’ for 1½ minutes. Since considerable runoff was noticed it was thought it would “cool” and an eruption was not likely. |
